Sat. Nov. 8th Scanlan student volunteers helped plant 1000 daffodils in circles surrounding the 15 Throggs Neck Mmeorial Trees in the Triangle that faces you as you enter the Park from the parking lot.

It was rainy but not to cold....the volunteers had a great time and we were glad to forfill our promise to add some color to the entranceway each year to show "We never Forgot 9/11"

THANK YOU PARTNERSHIP FOR PARKS FOR THE BULBS ASSIGNED TO US ON IMP DAY.

Maybe we should call the bluff on some of these "will leave town" situations.

I wonder if I was in power and I told one of my friends they could save a bundle and also push some of that bundle my way....if they threatened to leave town....Mnay woiuld of course join in the game.

I have a 6 acre Pepsi Distribution buiding being completed on my block (Brush Ave.)
According to Adolfo Carrions work with them, they recieved tons of savings by staying in the Bronx.

Thank.....

The Parks Dept. has a synthetic turf renovation planned for Ferry Point Park this next year.We have asked that the comfort station be built before the field.

We have asked that this park be used for a more diverse sporting experience for years now. The Com. Bd 10 and District 13 find it convenient to push all the adult hispanic soccer leagues into our park. This keeps the other parks in their district wit.....

Meet us at the Hilltop near the "big rock"

call 718-892-7303 to let us know your name and age and then meet us at the south end of the park to plant, clean and paint.

Snacks and water, tools and gloves, bulbs and fun will be in plenty.

Do not attend if you have a negative outlook to share.

We are meeting to have a friendly, positive flow of energy over the Ferry Point hilltop.

Negative people stay home.

Thank you, we appreciate it if you keep.....

There will be a meeting at Geanines house, 724 Brush Ave. We will discuss removing the sign that states that Ferry Point in general has a place to meet. The image of Ferry Point having a meeting hall was a good image. It helped fight crime, graffitti, and other safety issues. It gave all that passed the impression that we are a united strong neighborhood.

But obviously this classy image was to much for "you people" to live up to.

"Have it your way!" "degrade the area even more".....

Today we had 65 student volunteers from Building With Books.
We did our 4th waterfront cleanup for this year.

the beach never looked better.

we finally caught up with the hindu debris and even cleaned up previous years debris.

it is quite satisfying to have been able to get this task accomplished.
Our next step is to fins a grant that will allow us to create a trifold color brochure to reach out to the Hindu population and explain the problem with photos.

30 Students from Msgr. Scanlan along with Mary Anne Sheridan and the Green Apple Corp. weeded, mulched and prepared for watering, a large site of one of last years planting areas of the 3000 Saplings donated by the Prince of Monaco. These saplings represent the Ferry Point Park 9/11 Living Memorial Forest.
These 3000 trees have been combined to count in Mayor Bloombergs Million Tree planting. This event was to help care for these trees.

"Throgss Neck Trees" by dotti52 on July 21, 2008, 10:12 am, in category General
Well It's done....12 trees were added to the 3 pre-planted trees to form a triangular Grove of pretty mature, 7 foot? trees. These trees hopefully will grow and shade the entrance to this pretty barren area of the Park, while helping to remember Fire Fighter Michael Lynch and the 14 other Throggs Neck lives lost on Sept. 11th at the Twin Tower tradgedy.

Hopefully Jack Lynch Will be able to attend...if not I will meet with him another time to commemorate the final planting in photos for the future.

I hope to see this new grove turn into a flowering entranceway to the Park in the future.

"Friends of FP Park" are working on a Tree Stewardship Day to be held July 19th .This is and event arranged along with NYC Parks and Green Apple Corps. We are gathering volunteers but due to the haphazard schedule of the Schools this time of year we are having trouble getting an OK on 30 Scanlan HS Students.
Volunteers will learn to protect and sustain our city's vital green spaces.
They will be educated about invasive plants that plague our urban trees.
This will help them to identi.....
